Paignton and Dartmouth steam railway

We have been on the steam railway a couple of times now. The train starts at Paignton and goes to Kingswear where you can then get a ferry over to Dartmouth. Though there's not alot to do when you get to kingswear or dartmouth - Dartmouth does have the naval college, museum, some shops, pubs and a nice bakery/tea room which does some lovely cakes.
The steam train is a good size with quite alot of carriages so plenty of room, dogs are allowed any where except from the "Devon Belle" viewing carriage at the front/back and are not allowed to sit on the seats. The staff at the railway and the conductors on the train are always friendly. Adults travel for £12.50, children for £8.50, dogs travel for just £1 each which includes the train and ferry crossing to Dartmouth and return journey back to Paignton. The train also stops in Goodrington and Churston and you can travel on to Brixham from Churston (think its number 12 bus)
The station on the paignton end has a nice cafe and well stocked shop which has steam railway memorabilia, books and dvds, info on devon, thomas the tank engine toys and novelties, etc.

5 out of 5 but be aware that at peak times and the 1st/last train of the day and the boat crossings can get quite crowded so if you have a bigger dog (or 2) it might be a tight squeeze so advise checking how busy they are and getting the 2nd train out in the morning if this would be a problem for you.
