Dawlish Sands Holiday Park -Dawlish

I stayed at Dawlish Sands last week when on holiday with my brother and our 2 dogs, we we're about half way between the clubhouse and the train line meaning I regularly heard noise from these, though to be fair to Dawlish sands most the noise came from the trains and the entertainment venue was quiet by 1130 - 0000 every night and before this noise wasn't majorly bad other than on the sunday night that we arrived.

Caravan was clean and everything worked as you'd expect it to, it was a bronze but use to be a silver model. Gas cooker, WC, shower, toaster, microwave, fridge, kettle, etc.

Entertainment was pretty good. Especially the Thursday night show which was west end musicals themed. Ofcourse Loopy rabbit was a hit with the younger guests (and me, gotta love that bunny!) and they seemed to spend more time with loopy on stage than other park holiday sites I've stayed on. Typically they did 2 - 3 songs + some talking and games with loopy. (Though I am jealous of a reviewer on trip advisor whose daughter got Lyndon (ents manager) to get both loopy and cyril on stage together). We watched the guest entertainment one night which was an "illusionist" but his act was very simple and the most interesting part of the show was his assistants outfits (or lack of).

Shop was well stocked, take away/cafe didn't have some things on their menu available but it was end of season so thats probably why. They also seemed to close quite early on an evening. The bar staff were friendly however there was usually only the manager there and occasionally one other guy and they were forever running out of glasses. Tables were rarely cleared (on the Thursday evening there was plates on a table from dinner time and these were still sitting there at 1130 when the entertainment finished.)

They were cutting the grass on the Monday and somehow managed to knock a piece of plastic off our van, we reported this to the maintainence and they fixed it quickly for us.

Short walk from dawlish warren beach, crazy golf, arcades, some rides, a few shops and the nature reserve. and a short drive from dawlish, teignmouth, shaldon, starcross, cockwood, etc.

4 out of 5 - Would visit again, perhaps in peak season when more is happening. but all in all a good site.

  1. Having holidays at Dawlish holiday cottages is really what I want right now. I miss the place. It's been so long since I've returned.
